2020 Red Blend
Washington State grapes have been a constant in the LedgeStone portfolio. The grapes are managed by a father-son vineyard team on a property that sits only a few hundred feet from the Columbia River. The soils are sandy and dry, forcing the root system to search for water which strengthens the vine. This Red Blend is primarily Cabernet Sauvignon blended with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and just a touch of Malbec giving this wine a bold appeal with plenty of hidden notes such as black pepper and chocolate-covered cherries. The Cab Sauv provides such a great backbone of tannin, giving the wine structure and grit. Overall, the wines were held in a combination of new and neutral oak barrels for over 20 months. The use of neutral barrels allows the fruit to shine. It’s one of the first blends we’ve put together but love the combination of grapes that have individually have been on our list.Drink this wine now but it’s definitely recommended to age. How long? Right when the seasons shift from fall to winter but will continue to age for years to come.
